Since 2022, we've been honored to be part of the Specialty Coffee Association, a globally recognized authority in coffee excellence.
Unlike gourmet, premium, or deluxe coffee, specialty coffee stands apart due to its stringent quality standards. The Specialty Coffee Association specifies that for a coffee to earn the specialty designation, it must score at least 80 points on a 100-point scale. Achieving such a score requires the coffee to possess outstanding aroma and flavor, with very few defects.
While Arabica coffee offers superior aroma and flavor compared to other species like the more affordable Robusta, not all Arabica coffee meets the criteria for specialty status. Most of the coffee available today is either a blend of Robusta and low-quality Arabica, 100% Robusta, or 100% low-quality Arabica. This often leads people to add sugar to mask the undesirable taste of subpar coffee.
